The celebrations of Portugal’s National Day were held at the Witold Lutosławski Concert Studio of Polish Radio in Warsaw, organised by the Embassy of Portugal in Poland.
The host of the evening was the Ambassador of the Portuguese Republic to Poland, His Excellency Mário Miranda Duarte, who – in the presence of representatives of the diplomatic corps, local government, and the worlds of business, culture and academia – emphasised the exceptional character of the relations uniting Portugal and Poland. In his address, H.E. the Ambassador observed that, despite lying at opposite ends of Europe, the two countries have a surprising amount in common. They are bound together by a centuries-long history, a strong sense of national identity and a similar outlook on key European and international questions. – Portugal and Poland enjoy excellent and long-standing relations. In fact, our countries have more in common than their geographical position at opposite ends of Europe might suggest – His Excellency stressed.
