On the occasion of the New Year 2026, His Excellency Ambassador Ha Hoang Hai hosted a meeting with media representatives on 15 January at the Embassy of Vietnam, during which he reviewed the events of the past year.
Polish–Vietnamese relations are developing dynamically. The address delivered by His Excellency the Ambassador made it clear that Poland is currently at a pivotal moment in its bilateral cooperation with Vietnam.
As emphasised by H.E. Ha Hoang Hai in his speech, exactly one year ago, in January, the Prime Minister of Vietnam paid an official visit to Poland. It was an exceptionally successful visit that opened a new chapter in relations between the two countries. It was during this visit that both sides agreed to elevate their relations to the level of a strategic partnership. This partnership is expected to be formally established during the planned visit of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland, Donald Tusk, to Vietnam in May 2026.
According to the Ambassador, 2025 was also a landmark year in the history of bilateral relations, marking the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Poland. The jubilee was celebrated through a series of political, economic and cultural events. Of particular importance was the Vietnam Culture and Tourism Festival held at Castle Square in Warsaw, organised in cooperation with the Vietnamese community in Poland. The festival attracted thousands of Polish visitors and provided an excellent opportunity to promote Vietnamese culture, traditions, music and dance. Similar initiatives were organised in other cities across Poland, further strengthening ties between the two societies.
Economic cooperation between the two countries is also developing at a rapid pace. In 2025, according to Vietnamese statistics, trade turnover between Poland and Vietnam reached approximately USD 4 billion, representing a year-on-year increase of 15%. With regard to investment cooperation, as of the end of 2025 Poland ranked 36th among 153 countries and territories investing in Vietnam, with total capital amounting to USD 408.32 million. Polish enterprises have shown the greatest interest in the chemical, pharmaceutical and dairy sectors, including dairy production. Vietnam is becoming an increasingly attractive investment destination for Polish companies, both in the food industry (including Mlekovita, Polmlek, Mokate and Perła) and in the modern technologies sector, with companies such as Asseco and Comarch actively involved.
Tourism is also an important element of the growing closeness between the two countries, as highlighted by the Ambassador. Following the introduction of visa-free travel for Polish citizens by the Vietnamese government, the number of Polish tourists visiting Vietnam in 2025 exceeded 72,000. This is a highly significant result and contributed to Vietnam surpassing the threshold of 20 million international tourists last year. The development of air connections, cooperation with airlines and the growing interest in the cultural and natural attractions of both countries create enormous potential for further growth in tourism.
According to available estimates, the Vietnamese community living in Poland numbers more than 30,000 people. It is one of the largest immigrant communities in the country and is widely regarded as well integrated and actively engaged in Poland’s social and economic life.
The meeting at the embassy confirmed that Polish–Vietnamese relations today rest on solid foundations and are characterised by strong potential for further development, offering highly promising prospects for the future.
