On 8–9 December 2025, the University of Warsaw hosted the 5th International Conference “Mongolia and the Mongols – Past and Present” – one of Europe’s most significant academic events dedicated to the history, culture, and contemporary issues of Mongolia.
Ahead of the official opening, H.E. the Ambassador of Mongolia to Poland, Oyundari Navaan-Yunden, welcomed guests of honour to a yurt – a traditional Mongolian dwelling – specially erected for the occasion in front of the University of Warsaw. There, she introduced attendees to Mongolian customs before officially inaugurating the conference.
In her address, Ambassador Oyundari Navaan-Yunden underscored the importance of academic, educational, and cultural cooperation as a lasting foundation of Mongolian–Polish relations. She also highlighted the special significance of this year’s conference, held during the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and Poland, and commended the University of Warsaw for its status as one of the leading centres of Mongolian studies in Europe.
Summing up the event, the Ambassador stated:
– Our friendship cannot be measured solely by 75 years of diplomatic relations. The ties between our nations reach back many centuries. By nurturing our shared history and seizing today’s opportunities, we strengthen the bonds that unite us. These lasting relations constitute a noble foundation for further cooperation between our states and for future development.
