On 1 December, His Excellency Cosmin Onișii, Ambassador of Romania to Poland, Robert Piaskowski, Director of the National Centre for Culture, and Ovidiu Dajbog-Miron, Director of the Romanian Cultural Institute, welcomed guests to the concert “Journeys: Enescu/Dvořák” at the National Philharmonic in Warsaw, held in celebration of Romania’s National Day.
– It is a true honour to celebrate Romania’s National Day in such a magnificent venue as the National Philharmonic in Warsaw, and during such an exceptional event as this concert by the renowned George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra, returning to Poland after a 69-year absence. This concert also forms part of a ground-breaking event on the cultural map of Poland and all of Central and Eastern Europe – the Eufonie Festival – said His Excellency the Ambassador of Romania, in his welcome address officially opening the celebrations.
In his speech, Ambassador Onișii highlighted that the past year had been exceptionally successful for Romanian–Polish relations, marked notably by the 10th anniversary of the renewed Strategic Partnership Declaration, an intensive political dialogue at all levels, and record-breaking trade exceeding €12 billion. He also drew attention to the conclusion of the first-ever 18-month cultural season between the two countries – a programme that significantly strengthened people-to-people ties and cultural cooperation. He expressed his sincere thanks to the institutions and teams from both countries for their dedication, underlining Poland’s special place in Romania’s foreign policy.
