On July 1, 2025, Denmark took over the six-month presidency of the Council of the European Union from Poland. The Danish presidency is held under the motto: “A Strong Europe in a Changing World” and will run until December 31, 2025.
Denmark aims to continue key projects and launch new initiatives that address contemporary geopolitical, climate, and social challenges.

The presidency programme is based on two main pillars:
• A Strong (Secure) Europe
• A Competitive and Green Europe

Continuation of Ongoing EU Work
The Danish presidency plans to bring to completion many previously launched initiatives, such as:
– Reform of the internal market and simplification of regulations,
– Energy transition and implementation of the Green Deal,
– Finalisation of the pharmaceutical package and ensuring access to medicines,
– Supporting worker mobility and mental health in the workplace,
– Advancement of digitalisation, including regulations on artificial intelligence.
