A Celebration of Colombia and Colombian Dance

2025-11-11

On 10 July 2025, Colombia’s National Day celebrations took place in Warsaw.

The ceremony began with artists singing the national anthems of Colombia and Poland, emphasising the event’s significance. Next, His Excellency Assad José Jater Peña, Colombia’s Ambassador to Poland, gave a speech.
Thank you all for participating in the celebration of the 215th anniversary of the proclamation of the independence of the Republic of Colombia, which took place in Santafé de Bogotá on 20 July 1810. Although Colombia was formally established on 7 August 1819 with the Battle of Boyacá, it has remained an independent state ever since and continually strengthened its democracy, one of the oldest in the Americas.

Spanning an impressive area of over two million square kilometres and boasting access to two oceans and a dynamic transportation infrastructure, Colombia is emerging as a key player in global trade and international cooperation. As His Excellency Assad José Jater Peña emphasised in his speech, Colombia represents a natural bridge for global trade. Its potential is enhanced by a network of ports on the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, such as Cartagena, Santa Marta, Barranquilla and Buenaventura, as well as El Dorado International Airport in Bogotá, a regional leader in air transport.
