The role of women in global diplomacy, including within key international organisations, has changed significantly in recent years. Networks of women in diplomacy have emerged at both the national and international levels, women are taking up senior posts in domestic and international structures, and policies of equal treatment and non-discrimination are being put into practice. Polish diplomacy is joining these trends, demonstrating a qualitative shift in the way it manages and promotes equal treatment. In the spirit of these changes, the Polish Network of Women in Diplomacy was established at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland. It was inaugurated by the Director General of the Foreign Service on 24 June 2024, as part of the celebrations marking the International Day of Women in Diplomacy, which was established by the United Nations General Assembly on 22 June 2022.<\/p>\n

The Polish Network of Women in Diplomacy (PSKD) forms part of the Women Diplomats Network of the EU (WEDIN), which brings together networks of women diplomats from the foreign ministries of European Union member states and from the European External Action Service. WEDIN’s aim is to exchange experience and to develop mechanisms that support women’s professional careers, including respect for equal treatment. The PSKD, for its part, is committed to implementing within the foreign service those national and international obligations that arise, for instance, from the UN agenda on Women, Peace and Security.<\/p>\n
