In her keynote address, the Ambassador underscored the profound historical parallels between Bulgaria and Poland. <em>Despite the geographical distance separating us, Poland and Bulgaria share a remarkably similar historical destiny \u2013 <\/em>Her Excellency remarked.<em> Both nations vanished from the European map for protracted periods, yet through the unwavering courage and sacrifice of our peoples, we reclaimed our liberty and continue the shared struggle for sovereignty and territorial integrity<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The ceremony&#8217;s guest of honour was Mr Kiril Valchev, Director General of the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency and Secretary General of the Association of Balkan News Agencies \u2013 South-East Europe. The Ambassador highlighted the vital role of this association, which unites twelve national news agencies across the region to foster cooperation, ensure the exchange of reliable information, and combat the proliferation of disinformation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A significant portion of the evening was dedicated to the presentation of prestigious state decorations. Among the honorees was Mr Maciej Szyma\u0144ski, who served as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Poland to Bulgaria from 2019 to 2025. A career diplomat with a fluent command of the Bulgarian language, Mr Szyma\u0144ski was recognised for his substantial contribution to fortifying bilateral relations. Ambassador Ganeva noted that the award served as<em> an expression of profound gratitude for his tireless efforts in advancing cooperation across the political, economic, cultural, and educational spheres.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The second recipient was Professor Georgi Minchev, an eminent scholar of Slavic philology. Over a distinguished forty-year career, Professor Minchev has been a cornerstone of Bulgarian-Polish academic studies and a tireless proponent of the heritage of Saints Cyril and Methodius. In recognition of his service, he was invested with the Bulgarian State Order of Saints Cyril and Methodius, First Class.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The occasion also provided a showcase for Bulgaria\u2019s scientific and cultural achievements within Poland. Her Excellency highlighted the pivotal role of the Bulgarian Cultural Institute in Warsaw, as well as significant milestones in archaeological collaboration and research regarding the Codex Suprasliensis, currently inscribed on the UNESCO Memory of the World Register. Furthermore, the Ambassador pointed to the strategic importance of the tourism sector; in 2025, the number of Polish visitors to Bulgaria rose by over 7% compared to the previous year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Addressing a distinguished audience, the Ambassador also turned her attention to the burgeoning economic landscape. In 2024, bilateral trade turnover approached \u20ac5 billion, while Polish investment in Bulgaria more than doubled. It was noted that Bulgaria\u2019s integration into the Schengen Area and the eurozone is yielding significant new opportunities for partnership in employment, education, and tourism.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The evening\u2019s proceedings concluded with a sophisticated recital of 20th-century Bulgarian classical music. The programme featured works by Ivan Spasov, Veselin Stoyanov, Nikolay Stoykov, and Petko Staynov, masterfully performed by pianists Romeo Smilkov, Velislava Stoyanova, and Martin Dafinov.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The event drew a wide array of representatives from state and local government, academia, and the diplomatic corps, alongside members of the Bulgarian community in Poland.
