On the occasion of the 77th Republic Day of India, a ceremonial reception was held at the Embassy of India in Warsaw, bringing together representatives of the Polish authorities, the diplomatic corps, as well as members of the business and cultural communities.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The event was hosted by the Charg\u00e9 d\u2019Affaires of India to Poland, Mohan Lal. Among the guests of honour were W\u0142adys\u0142aw T. Bartoszewski, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Krzysztof Bosak, Deputy Marshal of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland.<\/p>\n

During the ceremony, the dynamic development of bilateral relations was strongly emphasised. As Secretary of State W\u0142adys\u0142aw T. Bartoszewski noted:<\/p>\n

\u2013 Our economic relations are clearly on a growth trajectory. Poland is the world\u2019s 20th largest economy. India is one of Poland\u2019s key and most promising partners in Asia, and the value of bilateral trade is approaching six billion US dollars. At the same time, Poland has become the largest investor in India among the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, while Indian investments are playing an increasingly important role in the modernisation of the Polish economy. Our economies are complementary, and we are determined to realise their full potential. In this context, I look forward to the next meeting of the Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation, scheduled for April 2026.<\/em><\/p>\n

This statement clearly reflects the scale and momentum of economic cooperation between Warsaw and New Delhi. Annual trade turnover exceeds six billion US dollars, and mutual investment continues to grow steadily. Nearly all major Indian IT companies operate in Poland, employing more than 10,000 highly qualified professionals. At the same time, Polish enterprises investing in India are creating jobs and supporting the integration of the Indian economy with the European Union market.<\/p>\n

Cultural and academic ties are equally strong. As Mohan Lal emphasised:<\/p>\n

\u2013 Poland is now one of the world\u2019s most important centres of Indology, that is, the study of India\u2019s ancient Sanskrit texts. Four leading universities in the country have outstanding departments of Indology, as well as Hindi and other modern Indian languages. Thanks to the deep knowledge and insight of Polish scholars, we were able to organise the Geeta Mahotsava in November in a truly meaningful way. Their expertise proved so valuable that our Mission in Romania approached us and invited a Polish scholar to the Regional Hindi Conference. \u2018Vikasit Bharat Run 2025\u2019 was held in Warsaw on 27 September to encourage the Indian diaspora to contribute to building a self-reliant and developed India. Many Polish influencers and athletes took part in the run, showing solidarity with India.<\/em><\/p>\n

Republic Day, commemorating the entry into force of the Constitution of India on 26 January 1950, symbolises the country\u2019s democratic resilience and sovereignty. It marks the moment when immense cultural diversity was transformed into the strength of one of the world\u2019s largest democratic projects.<\/p>\n

The Warsaw celebrations had not only an official but also a cultural dimension. The reception concluded with a magnificent Bharatanatyam performance, \u2018Divya Dhaara\u2019, by Dr Sridhar Vasudevan and his dance ensemble. The troupe\u2019s final performance took place on 27 January at the Capitol Theatre in Warsaw, drawing a large Polish audience, including members of the diplomatic corps, Kinga Gajewska \u2013 Member of Parliament and Chair of the Parliamentary Group of the Indian Diaspora \u2013 as well as leaders of Indian diaspora associations.<\/p>\n

The evening reaffirmed that Polish\u2013Indian relations rest on solid foundations and continue to develop in a spirit of mutual respect, dialogue and fascination with the rich heritage of both nations.<\/p>\n
