Among the guests were delegates from 40 embassies and Ms Agnieszka Kowalska, Director of the Department for Europe at the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In his opening remarks, H.E. Ambassador Jasmin Kahil emphasised the significance of the occasion: \u2013 <em>September 8 marks the 1991 referendum that led to the creation of an independent state. This day is especially meaningful for us, symbolising Macedonia\u2019s perseverance, determination, and peaceful path to independence<\/em> \u2013 he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ambassador Kahil also reflected on pivotal moments in North Macedonia\u2019s history\u2014from the short-lived Kru\u0161evo Republic in 1903, to the resistance of the Macedonian population during World War II, to the 1991 declaration of independence and the country&#8217;s admission to the United Nations in 1993.
