“The Art of Diplomacy” exhibition

2024-05-31

The Old Orangery in the Royal Lazienki Park hosted the opening of “The Art of Diplomacy” exhibition on 27 February, organised by SHOM – the Association of Spouses of Heads of Diplomatic Missions in Poland. This is the fifth edition of this unique exhibition.

The exhibition is undoubtedly a celebration of art and international diplomacy, where artists from ten countries share their very personal view of the world.

This exhibition is a story of lives, journeys and cultures, where each artist uses their unique technique and artistic style to tell a story that is as unique as their own life stories. These are stories shaped not only by their home countries, but also by other corners of the world they have had the opportunity to explore through diplomatic missions.

The grand opening of the exhibition was attended by guests invited by SHOM and the artists. SHOM President Gulia Bongini, spouse of the Ambassador of Cyprus, welcomed the guests and introduced all the artists. Explaining why the association is once again organising the exhibition, she said: Art is an international language and it is very appropriate to organise an exhibition of artworks by members of the diplomatic community, as they come from different countries and their mission is to communicate with each other. She added that through art we can all speak our own language and yet everyone is able to understand us.

Next, the host of the event, Marianna Otmianowska, Director of the Royal Lazienki Museum, took the floor and congratulated the creators of the wonderful works of art, ensuring that the tradition of organising the exhibition in the Old Orangery will continue.
