Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Education Visits Poland

One element of the changes currently taking place in Saudi Arabia is the provision of a high level of education to its citizens. The visit to Poland on June 23-24 of the Minister of Education of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Yousef Al-Benyan, was subordinate to this objective and served to exchange information on the directions and methods of reforming education systems, including the role of school in the development of key competencies.

In the talks, the participants from the Polish side were Minister of Education Barbara Nowacka, Secretary of State at the Ministry of National Education Joanna Mucha, and Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education Maciej Gdula.

Minister Yousef Al-Benyan presented the achievements of Saudi education and explained how the current system meets the goals of Vision 2030, especially in terms of the labour market, scientific research and support programmes for gifted students. In addition, they discussed the development of pre-school and school education, education standards and teacher training, as well as the need for education to work closely with science. Views were exchanged on the creation of an education policy based on scientific research and on preparing graduates for the labour market and continuous training. Attention was drawn to the need to develop the skills and talents of young people through international student exchanges and cooperation with the employer sector to harness the intellectual potential of those entering the labour market.
