Photography exhibition “Applied Nostalgia”

On 13 June, H.E. Nebojša Košutić, the Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Poland, ceremonially opened the exhibition at the History Meeting House in Warsaw.

The exhibition features photographs of Warsaw by the renowned Serbian photographer Andrej Nihil, as well as photographs of Belgrade by his Polish counterpart, Tomasz Janus, near the Presidential Palace.

Organised by the Ministry of European Integration of Serbia in cooperation with the Polish Cultural Institute in Belgrade and the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Warsaw, the exhibition has been held for years in cooperation with the country holding the Presidency of the Council of the EU. Members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of the Polish Foreign Ministry and numerous members of the Serbian community in Poland attended the event.

In his address to the assembled guests, H.E. Ambassador Košutić spoke of EU membership as a key foreign policy goal for Serbia, thanking Poland for its understanding and support for Serbia during the difficult and challenging negotiation process. The Ambassador also referred to the long tradition of cooperation and relations between Belgrade and Warsaw, who helped each other selflessly after suffering as a result of bestial bombing and Nazi occupation during World War II.

He also drew attention to the fact that there is still a Belgrade Street in Warsaw and that there used to be a Yugoslav Youth Street too, as a token of gratitude for their help in rebuilding the Polish capital, which was completely destroyed during the Nazi occupation.
