On 13 March 2025, a unique concert by the Morin Khuur Orchestra of the Mongolian State Philharmonic took place in the Warsaw Philharmonic Hall on the occasion of the state visit of the Mongolian President Khurelsukh Ukhnaa.

Organised by Mongolia’s Minister of Culture, Sports, Tourism and Youth, Nomin Chinba, the concert aimed to bring together two distant but equally rich musical traditions – Mongolian and Polish. Among the invited guests were representatives of the highest authorities, including Polish President Andrzej Duda and his wife, which gave the event exceptional importance and prestige.
During the concert, the orchestra presented a unique combination of traditional Mongolian music with classical orchestral sound, which was a great artistic challenge. Playing traditional Mongolian instruments such as the morin khuur (Mongolian horse fiddle), yochin (a type of traditional stringed instrument) and yatga (a stringed instrument), the artists introduced the audience to the fascinating world of Mongolian musical culture.
The concert programme included both works inspired by Mongolian tradition as well as compositions that introduced European classics to this world. The Polish works included masterpieces such as ‘Song of my Warsaw’ and Frederic Chopin’s Nocturne No. 20. These compositions, well known and loved in Poland, sounded in an extremely interesting version, gaining additional depth and emotional power thanks to their original performance, unique instruments and the orchestra’s excellent technique.
The audience was enchanted by the unique combination of sounds – classical and traditional instruments resonated on stage, creating an atmosphere full of magic and harmony. The artists of the Morin Khuur Orchestra received great appreciation from the audience, who gave them a very warm welcome.
The excellent combination of two different musical traditions, which at times seemed to interpenetrate each other, showed the power of the universal language of music. The surprising synthesis sound of the Mongolian Morin Khuur with the sounds of the symphony orchestra made this concert unforgettable for the audience.
