There is a myriad of ways in which you can get to know Serbia: through active holidays in the nature, acquainting yourself with a variety of cultures and the wealth of its heritage, sailing down the beautiful blue Danube River, discovering exquisite harmony of nature and culture , or having fun at the night clubs and famous floating raft clubs and taking part in the joyful festivals… There are countless other reasons for the visit, therefore we suggest starting the adventure by discovering the exquisite Serbian cuisine.
Serbian cuisine is a delicious blend of Mediterranean, Balkan and Central European flavors and tells the story of a people who lived at the crossroads of empires. Due to different influences Serbian cuisine is rich and diverse. There is possibility to taste goulash, moussaka, strudel and baklava in Serbian way, yet we also boast same truly authentic Serbian dishes that can’t be found elsewhere.
Favorite food in the northern part of the country are mainly dough-based, like bread and noodles, in central Serbia people are tend to eat pies and roast pork; the west of the country prefers cured meats and lamb dishes, while those in the eastern part enjoy lamb boiled in milk, polenta and dry shepherd’s pies; in the south the dining tables are laden with grilled meats served with typical vegetables of the region.
The irresistibly delicious and very spicy Serbian dishes are a fest for all senses. The people of Serbia enjoy cooking and eating, often traditional dishes are made according to old family recipes which are passed on from one generation to the next, but it also leaves a room for a modern approaches and new inspirations…
