Cypriot Studies in Poland – A Community of Research, a Community of Values

2026-07-07

On 28 April 2026, the University of Warsaw hosted the “Cypriot Studies in Poland” conference – an event that brought together academic and diplomatic communities around the topic of Cyprus in a truly distinctive way.

The conference was organised by the Faculty of “Artes Liberales” at the University of Warsaw in cooperation with the Cypriot Embassy in Warsaw, and brought together Polish researchers from across the fields of history, archaeology, political science, and literary studies.

The highlight of the conference was an address by the Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to Poland, H.E. Nicos P. Nicolaou. In his address, he underlined the significance of the concluding trio of Council of the European Union presidencies – running from the Polish Presidency, which began on 1 January 2025, through to the current Cypriot Presidency, ending on 30 June 2026. His Excellency highlighted Cyprus’ priorities during this period and discussed the outcomes of the recent informal European Council meeting in Nicosia, as well as the ongoing dialogue with regional partners from the Middle East.
