On 3 July 2025, a ceremonial reception was held in Warsaw to mark Lithuanian Statehood Day – a holiday commemorating the coronation of King Mindaugas, which took place on 6 July 1253.
Organised by the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania, this unique event brought together representatives of diplomacy, politics and culture, as well as numerous friends of Lithuania.
During the reception, the Lithuanian Ambassador delivered a speech in which he proudly recalled the nearly eight-hundred-year history of Lithuanian statehood, emphasising its remarkable resilience and ability to survive and flourish despite brutal disruptions.
– Lithuanian statehood has endured many trials and has been brutally disrupted numerous times. This year, we celebrated the 35th anniversary of Lithuania regaining its independence after 50 years of Soviet occupation, during which thousands of innocent people were executed, imprisoned or deported to Siberia. Today, we can be proud of our hard-won freedom and sovereignty, and together with our partners and friends, we can fight for a better world – said Valdemaras Sarapinas, Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania.
