2025-11-11

On 4 July 2025, a ceremony commemorating the 31st anniversary of Rwanda’s Liberation, known as Kwibohora31, took place at a hotel in Warsaw. This event also marked the 63rd anniversary of Rwandan independence.

Organised by the Embassy of the Republic of Rwanda in Poland, the event brought together representatives of the Polish government, diplomats, academics, private sector representatives, friends of Rwanda and members of the Rwandan diaspora.

Kwibohora, or Liberation Day, is a significant moment in Rwandan history, marking the end of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi and the beginning of the reconstruction of a country that has undergone remarkable transformation over the past three decades.
In his opening speech, Professor Anastase Shyaka, Ambassador of the Republic of Rwanda to the Republic of Poland, spoke of his nation’s past with profound respect:
We pay tribute to the men and women of Rwanda, living and dead, who made this development possible. Their courage, sacrifice and vision have enabled Rwanda to rise from the ashes and forge a new future.
