Interview with Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development & International Cooperation in Egypt
Before we delve into serious matters, I would like to ask: how do you find Poland?
Oh, I find it absolutely wonderful – very green, with such warm and welcoming people.
What was the purpose of your visit to Poland?
I came to Poland for the Polish-Egyptian Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation that I co-chair with my counterpart Minister of Economic Development & Technology H.E. Krzysztof Paszyk. This commission operates on the basis of the 2022 Polish-Egyptian Cooperation Agreement. The talks concerned economic cooperation between Poland and Egypt. Among other things, we discussed issues related to restrictions on the free movement of goods and services and cooperation between the Katowice Special Economic Zone and the Suez Canal Zone. We also discussed potential investments by Polish companies in Egypt.
Advancing our partnership, we signed a new protocol in 16 key areas, including: digital transformation, investment, trade missions, investor visits, renewable energy, environment, food security, agricultural research, SME development and startups.
