The anniversary of Colombia’s independence was celebrated on 25 July. The ceremony took place at the Terminal Kultury in Goclaw district of Warsaw, where the Caña Flecha folklore group performed in a music and dance show dedicated to Colombia’s Independence Day.
The ceremony was attended by ambassadors and members of the diplomatic corps accredited to Poland, representatives of the business world, economic institutions and the Colombian community living in Poland.
The event began words of welcome from H.E. Assad José Jater Peña, Ambassador of Colombia to Poland.
As Ambassador of Colombia to Poland, I thank you for your presence at the celebration of Colombia’s independence, which took place 214 years ago, on 20 July 1810. Colombia and Poland established diplomatic relations in 1931. Although they have always been friendly, it is in recent times we have strengthened our relations at all levels, through political consultations and initiatives in various fields: cultural, academic, scientific, commercial and sporting. We also cooperate in various international fora.
After H.E. the Ambassador’s introductory remarks, a video greeting from Colombia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Luis Gilberto Murillo, was shown.
