75th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China

On 25th September, His Excellency Sun Linjiang, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Poland, hosted a reception in celebration of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, as well as the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Poland. Among the distinguished guests in attendance was Andrzej Szejna, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The event was held at the Chinese Embassy in Warsaw, where Ambassador Sun Linjiang welcomed the guests and reflected on the history of his country and the evolution of diplomatic ties between Poland and China. An excerpt from his speech reads as follows:

Seventy-five years have brought great change to the People’s Republic of China. Under the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC), hundreds of millions of Chinese citizens have fought diligently and have successfully embarked on a path of socialism with Chinese characteristics. The country has achieved remarkable economic development, transitioning from a closed and backward nation to one that is open and progressive. It has moved from poverty to general prosperity, lifting over 850 million people out of poverty, elevating hundreds of millions into the middle-income bracket, and creating what can only be described as a development miracle in human history. Particularly since the reform and opening-up period, China’s economy has grown rapidly. Following the 18th Party Congress, China’s economic strength has continued to grow, with total economic output reaching over 126 trillion yuan in 2023 – a 223-fold increase since the founding of the People’s Republic of China. This represents an average annual growth rate of 7.9%. In 2023, China’s total economic output accounted for 17% of the world’s output. From 2013 to 2023, China’s economy contributed an average of over 30% to global economic growth, making it the world’s largest trading nation in terms of both commodities and foreign exchange reserves, and a key trading partner for more than 140 countries and regions, including Poland.
