Guests were addressed by the President of the National Chamber of Commerce Mr. Marek Kłoczko and the President of the Polish-Turkish Business Council Mr. Jerzy Drożdż, who said during the ceremony:
“In 2023 we are celebrating the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Friendship Treaty between Poland and Türkiye. This is a very important event, bearing in mind the remarkable history of both of our countries over the centuries. In 2014, we celebrated the 600th anniversary of diplomatic relations established at the beginning of the 15th century between the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and the Ottoman Empire, of which modern Türkiye is the heir. The newly reborn Poland concluded a Treaty of Friendship with Türkiye on 23 July 1923 in Lausanne, during the deliberations of an international conference that resulted in a Peace Treaty ending hostilities in Türkiye. Three months later, the The Republic of Türkiye was established, headed by its founder, the Father of the Turks, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. The recognition of an independent Türkiye by Poland, which had regained its independence five years earlier after 123 years of partition, rises to symbolic status given the historical circumstances described above. In celebrating this important jubilee, we should wish both our countries and peoples many further successes in their mutual relations full of affection and friendship”.
Also present at the ceremony were representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, economic and scientific circles, as well as ambassadors of the Republic of Poland – members of the Team of Diplomatic Advisors of the PCC.
